Get ready for the Lower Mainland Friendship Tournament and National Team Member Fundraiser!

Dear Instructors, Students and Parents,

It gives us great pleasure to invite you to participate in the 2009 Lower Mainland Friendship Tournament and National Team Member Fundraiser. This event is sanctioned by the International Taekwon-Do Federation of B.C. (ITF of B.C.).

There will be Patterns and Free Sparring divisions for competitors from all belt levels and all ages from 7 to 77!

This event will be a great way for students to try their competition skills in a less formal environment.

Win Medals!

There will be medals for 1st, 2nd and two 3rd places awarded using the standard single-knockout eliminations. There will be lots of divisions (by age, size and belt level) so there is a good chance for many of you to place and win a medal!

This event is meant to offer everyone the chance to experience competition in a fun and less formal environment. As in past friendship tournaments, we will ensure that every participant has at least 2 matches. In both Sparring and Patterns, if competitors lose their first match, they will have a second “exhibition” match for fun and experience.

Support our National Team Members!

This tournament is also meant to be a fundraiser to assist the 7 B.C.-based members of the Canadian National Team going to compete at the World Championships in Argentina. $5 from every entry fee will be donated to help send them on this long journey.

At the tournament, they will also be offering 50/50 tickets, t-shirts for sale as well as a bake-sale and lunch concession. Please be sure to meet our seven National Champions and support their efforts!

On top of it all, this is a great opportunity for folks from out of town to do some Christmas shopping in the large centres in the area!

It is our goal to provide a well organized event with a good level of competition and sportsmanship, demonstrating the true spirit of the original ITF Taekwon-Do.

For this event, we are also pleased to introduce the following innovations to the tournament program:

All competitors, upon registration at the event, will be provided with an estimated time schedule for their events.
Participants register and make payment directly by Internet.

Who: All official ITF schools and practitioners in British Columbia and Member Clubs of the ITF of B.C.

When: Saturday, November 14, 2009

-Black Belt meeting at 9:30 am sharp.

-Competition begins for Black Belts at 10:00

am sharp.

-Opening Ceremony 12 pm

-Colour Belts 12:00pm until 5:00pm
